The LinkedIn Gold Rush: Riding the Video Wave & How the Best Capitalize on Emerging Trends
Alright let’s get straight into it.
If you haven’t figured it out yet, LinkedIn video is having a moment right now.
You don’t need to believe me either…
Just look at people who are wayyy more successful than me have to say:

Cody’s friend just got 400,000 views in 7 days with only 2500 followers.

Okay enough simping.
But in all seriousness LinkedIn is starting to have its moment with short form.
And I have nothing to back this up but it feels like it’s a lagging indicator of where short-form first started catching fire on platforms like TikTok & Shorts.
Now that the cat’s out of the bag, more founders and B2B influencers are flocking to LinkedIn in droves.
It's like watching a bunch of suited-up penguins suddenly realizing there's a whole ocean of fish they've been missing out on.
So, what's a savvy content creator or entrepreneur to do?
How can you ride this wave without wiping out?
Well, buckle up, because I've got a three-phase strategy that'll take you from LinkedIn video newbie to certified guru.
Phase 1: Self-Serve (Prompting & AI Tools)
This is where you get your feet wet.
It's all about leveraging AI tools and prompts to create content efficiently. Here's how:
Content Ideation: Use AI tools like ChatGPT to brainstorm video ideas that resonate with your audience. Prompt it with something like, "Generate 10 LinkedIn video ideas for a B2B SaaS company focusing on productivity tools."
Script Writing: Once you have your ideas, use AI to help draft your scripts. You can prompt, "Write a 60-second script for a LinkedIn video about the importance of time management in remote teams."
Video Creation: Tools like Synthesia or D-ID can help you create AI-generated videos if you're camera-shy. Or use Descript for easy video editing with AI transcription.
Captioning: Use AI transcription tools to automatically generate captions for your videos. This improves accessibility and engagement.
Remember, the key here is to use these tools as a starting point. Inject your own personality, expertise, and style into the content.
Don't just regurgitate what the AI spits out.
Phase 2: AI-Augmented Interview Service
Now that you've got some experience under your belt, it's time to level up. Take the stack you used in Phase 1 with the learnings you get from experimenting, and start helping other people do this.
This could be founders, aspiring thought leaders, brands, etc.
Here's how it might look:
Interview Prep: Use AI to generate tailored questions based on the interviewee's background and expertise.
Content Extraction: After the interview, use AI transcription and summarization tools to pull out key insights and quotable moments.
Video Editing: Leverage AI-powered video editing tools to quickly create multiple short-form clips from a single long-form interview.
Distribution Strategy: Use AI to analyze the best performing content and suggest optimal posting times and hashtags.
The beauty of this phase is that you're not just creating content for yourself anymore.
You're helping others tap into the LinkedIn video gold rush, and positioning yourself as an expert in the process.
Phase 3: Educate & Train Others to Do Your Service
After extracting enough gold from the mines yourself, it's time to start selling the picks & shovels.
This is where you transition from doing the work to teaching others how to do it.
Course Creation: Develop a comprehensive course on LinkedIn video strategy, incorporating all your learnings from Phases 1 and 2.
Workshops and Webinars: Host live training sessions where you walk people through your process step-by-step.
Consulting: Offer one-on-one or group consulting sessions for businesses looking to level up their LinkedIn video game.
SaaS Tool: If you're really ambitious, consider developing a SaaS tool that automates parts of the LinkedIn video creation process.
I like this phase because it allows you to capitalize on your knowledge while giving you time to find the next gold rush in the process.
And so the cycle continues...
The Cyclical Nature of Content Trends
You might notice what I just described sounds familiar... Almost reflexive in a way.
That's because it is. This is how most of the trend setters and larger creators / entrepreneurs are (and have been) staying ahead of the curve.
They identify a trend, dive in head-first to learn the ropes, then teach others how to do it.
By the time everyone else catches on, they're already moving on to the next big thing.
It's a constantly evolving cycle of learn, do, teach, repeat.
And if you can master this cycle, you'll always be one step ahead of the game.
Wrapping Up
So there you have it, folks. A three-phase strategy for riding the LinkedIn video wave, from newbie to guru.
Remember, the key is to start now.
Don't wait for the perfect moment or for your videos to be polished to perfection.
The gold rush is happening now, and the early birds are already pecking away at those golden nuggets.
What are you waiting for?
Grab your pickaxe and start mining that LinkedIn video gold.
Trust me, your future self will thank you.
Until next time, keep creating, keep innovating, and most importantly, keep riding that wave.
And of course, much love & peace y’all 🤠
