Building to solve your own problems is now more accessible with AI

You should try to build your own apps.

Why?

Because tools like Cursor AI and v0.

Because AI models like gpt-4o and Claude Sonnet 3.5

It’s never been easier to build your own software apps.

So let’s talk about why should try this even if you’re not technical:

  1. you get to practice working with software in case you find a technical person to work with and scale it

  2. you can feed that idea you have had in the back of your mind by bringing it to life

What Would I Do to Start?

Here is the stack you can start with:

Next thing you’ll need is that idea, and power of will to push through the learning curve.

Let’s take an example of an idea I’ve been tossing around and working on this week:

💡 The Idea

I want to create a tool that helps attendees of events find out who they should talk to at the events and give them topics to bring up to that person.

Here’s the high-level process I imagine:

  1. Attendees each fill out their own bio about who they are, why they want to come, etc

  2. Use AI to analyze the profiles of each person and decide who would be good to match. Then generate topics for those matches.

  3. Each Attendee will then be able to browse recommended people before the event and be able to get those connections first.

Why do this?

Many people go to events in hopes of meeting someone that is of value to them in some way and ideally the value relationship is reciprocal.

In other words, they want to meet someone who is of value to them and who they are of value to.

So why not get that heat-seeking missile mindset out of the way first by helping those people make those connections as seamlessly as possible.

Then they can enjoy the rest of the event knowing they got the connections they came for—anything else is just frosting on top.

From Idea to MVP

You now are able to create MVP apps all from a prompt file.

Here’s an example:

Knowing the exact programming language might matter less in the future.

If you:

  • have taste

  • are able to describe what you want

  • are willing to sit in a little frustration as you iterate on the code

The world is your oyster.

Closing Thoughts

Ideas are more powerful than ever today.

Use this to your advantage. Don’t be afraid if you don’t know everything before building—just start building.

I hope you are inspired to create something you’ve always wanted to make but didn’t think possible.

The real unlock relates to what I just said:

Seeing that you can bring your ideas to life is an empowering feeling.

It will change your perspective to be more open-minded and less afraid of challenges (because you know you can figure it out now).

If you build something wit cursor, share it with me on X.

That’s all for now. ‘Til next time, much love and peace y’all 🤠
